Copic Oz Colour Challenge

This is a card that I made for the Copics Oz Colour Challenge! The colours I have used from the challenge are; E57 E47 and YR23 for the hair and R46 and R59 for the outfit. I have also used R22 and R35 on the outfit that were not part of the challenge. Skin was coloured with E00 E11 and E31. The dots on the outfit were coloured with W3 W5 and W7. I finished it off with a spica pen for some bling!

Today is the First......Last day of school for our son Joshua, I am not sure how I feel about this. PROUD because he got a fabulous school report. HAPPY that he is in such a wonderful learning environment. SAD that next year he will be going to school 5 days. TERRIFIED of the school holidays!

Here is the gift that I made for his Teacher and Teachers Aide for being so wonderful and welcoming to our family at the school!

It is just a simply notepad that I have made a folder for out of cardstock and decorated! I will post a You Tube video on the assembly when I get the chance!

Hope your kids have had a wonderful year at school, and the holidays are not too hard on you!

Pink Layouts...................

For a long time I have been happily doing boys layouts...........until Danae came along, then I was thrown into the world of pink!! But did I have any pink embellishments........NO! So I would be happily scrapping away and go to my stash to get some rhinestones.....no pink, okay off to the shop. Come back, bit more scrapping and go to my stash for some ribbon...Huh.....no pink ribbon, okay off to the shop. You can see my problem. Anyway you will be happy to know that I have now stocked up on pink and purple bits and pieces and can usually get through a layout without running off to the shop............too many times!! I just thought that I would share this layout that I completed a few months ago. Loving the woodgrain letters!!!

You know how everyone says that the 3rd child doesn't get as many photo's etc etc, well Danae has a layout of her clinic visits, but my boys don't!!! I am trying really hard to make sure that I keep this up!!

Penny Black Stamps - Fresh New Day

I have had this set of stamps for a long long time!! And have used them once, no twice now! They are so cute!

Anyway yesterday our pet lamb.....yes it would be too easy to have a dog or cat, we have a lamb that needs feeding 4 times a day!!! It's like having another baby!! Stripes (that's the lambs name) decided that he needed an adventure and crawled out under our back gate into the free world......and onto the busy street. All of this was happening while I was at work! A kind neighbour doorknocked around until he found out that we were the owners and put Stripes back in his pen in the safety of our shed. So I thought I would make a card, and insert a chocolate as a small token of our appreciation.

Note: Stripes is an unusual name for a lamb don't you think?......Not if it has a blue stripe painted down his back by a mischievious 5 year old!! It has worn off now thankfully!!

Pretty Card

Just a pretty card that I just made......I was copying...I mean.... yeah well copying one off the internet, but as usual it took a turn and came out totally differently!!

I was having trouble getting my papertrey ink die to line up with my stamped image as it doesn't have a hole in the middle like spellbinders ones, but then I had an idea...so I made a short video on how to overcome this problem.

I wanted to make a card to thank a friend for some great photo's that they took for me, and i wanted to have a camera on the front....but couldn't find a camera stamp anywhere!! SO I made one! Anyway here is my card! By the way, I hate using felt alphabets, they always get bent and out of shape, thank goodness for the gridlines, after much re-applying i got them nearly straight. By the way did you know that you can re-colour felt alphabets with copic markers and the ink doesn't smudge onto your page. These ones were brown....but not brown enough, so a few strokes of the marker and PRESTO..brown brown letters!

Every now and then it is just nice to make a card......right? Well this is how I felt today! So I googled around some challenge sites for inspiration and this weeks sketch at The Pink Elephant Challenge blog grabbed me!

Anyway it is pretty close to the sketch although I have grouped my sentiment and embellishment together.

This is the first time that I have used Copic markers to colour an image....I need way more blending practice, but I don't think it is too bad!

Hero Arts Fabulousness!!

I have just received a box of goodies from Hero Arts and could not resist making a card with this stamp set called "My Type"

So here it is, the card base is made from a 6"x 4" piece of cardstock folded in half. That way the card will still fit in a standard C6 size envelope!!

R.I.P Mini Mask

I love Tim Holtz products and have used his masks a few times, and like most of you who LOVE Tim Holtz products I use a heat tool.......alot. I am sad to say that the masks do not like the heat tool and can easily be DESTROYED if they come into close proximity of one!! See picture!

There fore my tip of the day is to REMOVE your mask before putting a heat tool anywhere near your project!!

A couple of week ends ago I very luckily got a day with only 1 kiddie to go scrapbooking at a friends house. I has set myself a goal of getting at least 1 layout done per hour....and I made it. When I got home I just had to finish off the journalling and a few small embellishments. Anyway here they are!!

Then I was on a roll and got these 3 done as well!!

Inspirational Tip of the Day

Do you find yourself looking at something in your stash and are totally lacking any inspiration?? Well my tip for the day is.....visit the manufacturers website!! I was totally lost when looking at one of my hero arts stamps yesterday, so I thought to myself I will just hop over to their blog and see if there were any projects posted with the stamp I was hoping to use....and there was a video tutorial using a stamp nearly the same as mine!! Anyway out came the sewing machine today and this is the result!! I can't wait to use it on an off the page canvas project!! I will keep you posted.

The fabric is from a Moda 5" stack and I have used calico as a backing fabric. I have stamped the image with Stazon and then machine stitched around the flowers petals Then I cut away the rest of the fabric leaving a 2-3 mm border out from the stitching. I cut some small slits on the back and popped a small amount of stuffing between the 2 layers. I tried a button in the centre of the flower, but it just looked like a big hand holding a button, so I hand embroidered some stamens and used some self adhesive pearls to finish it off!

Anyway hope this little tip inspires you to get crafty today too!
The possibilities are endless now the seed has been planted!!

Copic Colouring on old Book Page

This card was created by stamping the image with Stazon ink onto the page of an old book. I then coloured the image with copic markers with a pretty good result. The ink blended well on this paper as it was very absorbent. The flower was made using a scallop circle punch. Very late one night last week, I decided to make this 8 x 8 canvas project!! I have attached all the papers and embellishments to the canvas so that I can change the photo if I want to !! I am still trying to think of a caption to put on the tag...... it will come to me I am sure!! This is a great, quick little project for a gift, or I have put a magnet on mine to hang on the fridge.

New Stamps

Hey don't you just love new stamps?? I just got my first set of My Time Made Easy stamps, and you can also get a svg file for your Cricut to cut out the frames!! Soo Easy!! A trick though.....you need Sure Cuts Alot Version 2!! Earlier versions don't support the file!! Anyway this is the little card I made it measures 4.5" square and I have used Stampin' Up! Inks and papers. Martha Stewart Lattice Punch (LOVE IT!!) and some awesome little pearl strands!! Hope you like!!

Jillibean Banner Card

We have just got these awesome stamps in at the shop and I couldn't resist using them straight away. Anyway here is a little tutorial for you!!

Materials:

Step 1: Choose 5 coordinating patterned papers and stamp the banner image on each one.

Step 2: Cut out each of the triangles separately and arrange into a pleasing colour combination. This will give you enough banners for 5 cards. Don't you love mass production?? So easy!!

Step 3: Stamp the banner image onto your card base.

Step 4: Layer the flag pieces onto the card base with foam tape over the stamped image of the banner on your card base.

Step 5: Complete the rest of your card!! I have used a 6 x 6 paper pack which makes it easy to coordinate the papers!!

Tip!!
Where you have cut out the flag pieces, sometimes you might accidently cut off a bit of the stamped border.....simply run the edge of the piece along the brush tip end of a marker to fill in the blanks!!

Just a Card for Fun

It has been ages since I sat down and made a card just because I wanted to!! And I love how this one has turned out! I think that I am addicted to kraft cardstock!! It is so versatile. The technique I have used here is emboss resist. I have then used a blending tool and adirondack ink to colour over the top. Too easy!!

I cut out this cute little tag on my Cricut from the Base Camp cartridge. The main stamped image is a Hero Arts stamp called wild flowers. Anyhow hope you enjoy!!

Finishing Off Mode

I have been in finishing off mode the last couple of days, and just thought I would share with you a couple of layouts that I have got around to getting finished!!

Aiden had his first birthday a month ago and I have just finished this layout from when he was born!! How slack is that. I had decided that I needed to get his album a bit more up to date before our next baby arrived in a few weeks time. I had better get cracking!!

This layout was one of the chllenges from our bootcamp. The challenge was to use black and white and one other colour. I am really happy with how this one turned out!!

This layout remained half finished from our National Scrapbooking Day workshop, I can't lie......it really only needed a title and the date being added, but it is now finished!!!

Scrapbooking Drought

YEAH...........the drought has broken. I don't know what it is but the last few months I have found it very hard to get motivated enough to sit at my desk and scrapboook!! It may have something to do with the fact I have a 4 year old, 10 month old and am 4 1/2 months pregnant!! Anyway I have cleaned up, and done a layout now maybe I might have my mojo back!! I have also found a new use for my Martha Stewart Scary Branch punch!! It makes great sea coral!!

Oh JOY it is only 6 weeks until Christmas!!! Here is a card to share with you, I have used the recessed window technique over at Split Coast Stampers, and made a little wreath for the centre....honestly the wreath took about 15 minutes and well worth the effort!!

On a piece of wire thread alphabet letters to form a festivey word.....if you have them put a beading crimp at each end of the word to hold it in place. Make a loop with the wire, don't worry it is isn't perfect as the ribbon will hide it anyway.

Begin tying ribbon around the wire until it all covered, different textures of ribbon look nice, I have used a sheer ribbon and a grosgrain.

Just a quick post to show you what we can do with our designer decals. This is just a 12 x 12" frame with a piece of pretty scrapbooking paper inside. This card was inspired by my quilt cover!! It has a pleated panel with velvet ribbon threaded through it and a white embroidered design in these colours!! Anyway, to make the pleated panel out of paper I scrunched up the paper first so that it had some dimension and then randomly pleated the paper in 2 directions to give it the look of a piece of fabric. Have a go at it, it is soo easy and a great addition to your cards.

Materials: Bazzill Smoothies Cardstock, Scribble Scrabble Patterned Paper, Stampin up Ribbon, Frames with a Flourish stamp set, and rub-ons.

I just love these papers from Cosmo Cricket, they come in an 8x8 pad so you can easily mix and match them together!! I also love this quote and have been waiting to find a project to use it on!!

Tip of the Day....Problem Rub-ons!

Ever had that problem where your rub-on just didn't work?? Next problem......how to get the bit off that did work?? No problem.

Use your Xyron adhesive eraser!! Simply move it in a small circular motion over the part of the rub-on that you would like to remove!! This works best straight away, if you leave it too long the rub-on will stick to the cardstock too much!!

Christmas Countdown #8

This weeks card is a bit more of a project that the others. To make the panel that the christmas tree is on, you will need a piece of chipboard a bit bigger than your stamp and ink it up with versamark ink. Then with opals embossing powder do 3-4 coats to get a nice thick layer of warm emossing powder then while it is still molten press your stamp into it!! Don't panic I have used this technique with both rubber and acrylic stamps and it has no affect on the stamp, but if you are not sure you can ink up your stamp with clear versamark to protect it if you like! I think you will agree that the result is pretty special

Christmas Countdown #7

Well a bit of a surprise for you this week, we have a card club that has to contribute cards for swapping every 6 weeks or so and this week our last swap was due. The theme was christmas with a twist...and the twist was that the card was not allowed to be a traditional shape eg, square or rectangle. Here are the two cards that I made for the swap!! They are not only cards where the front is hinged with an eyelet and swings sideways....they double up as an ornament for your christmas tree. The patterned papers were just scraps that I had on hand, ribbon and jumbo eyelets are from Stampin' Up! and Cardstock is Bazzill!! Stamps and gemstones used are from Kaiser. I also used some shimmerz paints on the word peace. Enjoy.
